He's Breaking Mama's Back!!!

Whew! Who knew 14 lbs. 10 oz. could feel soooo heavy? Devon is growing fast and definately gaining weight, but he still has little interest in supporting any of it himself so it is mostly dead weight. Especially since he wants to be held and cuddled most of the time. But I am trying to enjoy it because soon enough he'll push me away for an Elmo doll. (or a G.I Joe or whatever little boys play with...)

He still won't take his cereal plain, but putting a few teaspoons in his formula is keeping his apetite a little more at bay. Today I tried giving his applesauce. He wouldn't let me put the spoon in his mouth, but he seemed to enjoy licking the applesauce off the spoon and eating it that way. Progress is progress. We'll master the spoon thing later. The important thing is that he liked applesauce. =)

Devon learned a new trick from hanging out with his cousin Weston. Yup, Devon learned the power of his own voice. He has spent most of the day screaming and shreiking with glee. He's pretty proud of himself. I was pretty excited too the first 20 minutes... Hours later I am starting to wonder why I was happy that he learned to scream. But it is really cute to watch his face when he does it.

I know the firsts are all going to start coming more quickly now, which makes me a little sad... But I love being a mom and am thankful to be blessed with my baby boy. What will Devon learn next?

... I am including some pictures of Devon and Weston. I can't believe how fast Devon is catching up. Hopefully the boys won't have to wait too long to see each other again. I just love the picture of Weston using the ball as a pillow. Enjoy the pictures!

Father's Day Pics

In honor of Father's Day, I wanted to include some photos of Devon and his daddy that we took earlier today. I can't believe how long time seemed to go when I was pregnant, especially compared to how fast it is flying by now. Devon is going to be 4 months old next week. And it's all flying by so quickly. Devon and I are both incredibly lucky to be spending this time with Josh. So happy first Father's Day, Josh! And a happy Father's Day to all the other dads out there too!

The Ritter Clan Goes To San Francisco

So, Josh and I decided to go to San Francisco on Tuesday. Josh wanted to go on a day trip and I wanted to scout the location where my Life Agent test will be on Friday. SF proved to be a challenge to us in MANY ways. First of all, finding the location for my test was rather difficult as the directions given were made for BART travel. So we got pretty lost. And then Devon woke up... HUNGRY (of course). After much confusion, we finally found a place where we could get out a feed him. Upon unloading the car, we noticed the BIG sign that said no parking 2 AM-6 AM and thought we were cool since it was 12:30 PM. Plus there were other cars parked in the same spot. WRONG! We failed to notice the sticker on the bottom of the meter that said loading zone from 6 AM to 1 PM. So we got a ticket... and of course we were the only ones on the street that managed to get a ticket. Go figure! But we managed to laugh it off and get some good pictures out of the trip. So I hope you enjoy them...

On another note, Devon is doing really well. He misses his nanas and papas of course, but it is extremely nice to have him home. His favorite activities right now are being an airplane above our heads (but you gotta watch out for the drool) AND dancing with mom in the living room... Oh and EATING of course!!! Our hungry hog is eating 7 oz. every 90 minutes!!! No joke, the kid can put it away. I have even attempted to get him started on rice cereal. He's not quite sure what the spoon is all about, but he is keeping it down for now. But even cereal is only buying me about 2 hours between feedings. He's due for his 4 month check up next week and I can't wait to see how much he weighs. I am including some bath time pics so you can see how much his tummy is growing. =)

Missing My Baby!

It's been over 24 hours since I have seen Devon, and I feel like I am going crazy. Saturday seems like a decade away! He was all smiles when I left, and it was all I could do to make it out of the driveway. But I figure that I can do anything for a week. My classmates have been super suportive. A lot of them are also moms that can remember leaving their kids for the first time. I miss him TONS, but I know he is in loving and capable hands. I would appreciate any and all prayers to help get me through the week.
On a sidebar, My mom weighed him today: 12 lbs 14 oz!!! He is really growing up fast. Here are some of the pictures I took of Devon right before I had to leave yesterday. They are the pictures that are helping to get me through class.
